Here is the full biography for our one candidate for new election, CJ McCollum of Scruffy Vineyard:

After attending Lehigh University for four years and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism CJ McCollum would go on to make history by becoming the first Lehigh player ever selected in the NBA draft. The Portland Trailblazers selected him with the 10th pick in the 2013 NBA draft solidifying his move to the Pacific Northwest.

The Canton, Ohio native was introduced to wine in his early 20s at Lehigh by his now wife Elise. CJ’s fortuitous move to one of the top wine regions in the U.S. led him to take his existing passion for - and knowledge of - wine to new heights. As reflected through his work both on the basketball court and in the community, leaving a legacy is extremely important to the McCollum family. The McCollum Heritage 91 wine label was created in partnership with Adelsheim in 2018, which also marked the first year of the McCollum family purchasing grapes from Adelsheim. 

In 2021 CJ McCollum and his wife purchased a 318 acre vineyard property in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. The site, which borders Resonance Vineyard contained multiple micro-climates, a five acre reservoir, several irrigation ponds, a rock quarry and Ruby Nursery. The property currently has 56 acres planted and the nursery specializes in wholesale Japenese Maple liners. The Nursery has over 570 species of Maple come through the greenhouses and over 800 total species across the in-house grafting. McCollum Family Vineyard and Ruby Nursery believe in conscious growth and sustainable business practices while treating our employees equitably. Both our vineyard and nursery are Live Certified.

In addition to his basketball career, CJ is also an entrepreneur and philanthropist. He serves as the president of the National Basketball Players Association, President of the NBPA Foundation, an organization that highlights and celebrates the work of players that impact their communities worldwide. CJ has also created the CJ McCollum Dream Centers, which provide resources and help students from underserved communities, he lead the CJs Press Pass Program, a journalism-based mentorship program for Highschool students. The McCollum family also launched the McCollum Scholars Program in 2024 which will provide 11 Pell eligible New Orleans HighSchool Students with a need based scholarship of up to $80,000 million ver four years towards completing their 4- year degree.

CJ is married to Dr. Elise McCollum and they have a three year old son named Jacobi and a one year old daughter named Margaux along with their dog Fiona.
