What We Do

Since 1999, LIVE has independently certified the sustainable practices of winegrowers in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. We rely on the latest university research and internationally accredited standards of integrated production. LIVE is now globally recognized as a leading certification body for sustainable farming and production.

    • Our Standards

      Each year, LIVE vineyard and winery members submit a comprehensive set of reporting requirements for review. This annual process enables our third-party inspectors to verify that sustainability goals are being met. Here you will find our standards, how they are developed, and the fees for certification.

      Our Members

      We are a cooperative organization, supporting each other's efforts within our tight-knit winegrowing community. Members can join committees of their peers, attend educational seminars, and sit on the Board of Directors. Our vineyards span from 2 acres to 700, our wineries from 400 cases to 1.5 million. All are welcome.

      We are happy to announce a new certification option called LIVE Plus. This designation is available for those members who have demonstrated an extraordinarily high level of sustainable winegrowing. Email chris@livecertified.org to enroll or for more information.

      Chemeketa students
      Al MacDonald/LIVE Wine Studies Scholarship

      Scholarship

      In 2017 we started a scholarship for Chemeketa Community College students in the Wine Studies Program. Named after Al MacDonald, one of the founders of LIVE as well as the Chemeketa viticulture program, this scholarship is available to first generation students in that program.       Growing Oaks and Oak Accord

      Oregon White Oak

      LIVE partners with organizations and initiatives such as Willamette University's Growing Oaks to collect and distribute oak saplings, and the Willamette Partnership's Oak Accord to help our members learn how to conserve the oaks they have and to restore native oak habitat on their land.
