Each year, LIVE and our certification partner Salmon Safe recognize and award one LIVE member who has made extraordinary contributions in their vineyard to restore and protect our native aquatic ecosystems.
Please congratulate this year’s Hero of Salmon awardee, Elton Vineyards for their commitment to environmental leadership, biodiversity, and watershed conservation. The award was accepted by Betty O'Brien, co-owner of Elton Vineyards, who has been actively involved with LIVE and Salmon Safe for many years.
The award to Elton Vineyards was in recognition of their decades of environmental leadership in the wine industry and longtime stewardship practices including stream habitat conservation, pollinator habitat enhancement, and protection of downstream water quality in the Willamette River watershed.
The 2025 award represents the 15th annual award and the list of Heroes is a who’s who of environmentally innovative winegrowers across the Pacific Northwest. The first ever Hero of Salmon was awarded to Jim Bernau of Willamette Valley Vineyards.
